• Mercia was conquered in the 10th century AD by Wessex. Since then it has remained in forin hands, now being ruled from London.
• Mercia's population of 11 million is roughly four times that of Wales, and over twice the size of Scotland's. And yet Mercia has no degree of 'home rule' at all, being split into dozens of so-called "counties" under a typical Kentish divide-and-conquer policy.
• Mercia has ports on the Bristol channel, the Irish sea, and the North sea.
• Mercians are not an officially recognised "ethnic group", instead the government would have you belive we are English! Well, we certainly aren't from Anglia!
• The Celtic language once spoken in Mercia has by the original Mercians been oppressed out of existence. There are no native speakers of Cumrian at all, and all written records have been destroyed! Also, Mecian dialects of "English" are frequently mocked!!!
• The special letters "þ" and "ð" neccesary for writing Mercian are not on so-called "United" Kingdom keyboards. Instead we are supposed to "make do" with this "digraph" of TH.
• Hundreds of thousands of Mercians have been sent to die in wars started by Wessex-Kent over the centuries! And were the Mecian people ever consulted about this? No!
• Billions of pounds of tribute (or as they call it "taxes") paid to London each year, stay in London, proving employment for Londoners. This is outright theft cannot continue! An independent Mercia will split government facilities between the major cities, rather than concentrating on the main capital, Birmingham!
• Mercian interests are not represented abroad. Not one country recognises Mercia as an oppressed nation. This is due to fear of retaliation by the Kentish-Wessex mafia and their servants Northumbria, Scotland, Wales and Ulster!
• It is no longer "politically correct" to call Wale's part of England, but if you attempt lykewise to distinguish Mercia and England in polite conversation, people just ignore you!
• The phrase "sent to Coventry" is an evil tool propogated by the London- Wessex axis. It must be abolished, NOW, for Coventry is a fine Mercian city who deserve our support.!
• The Kentish dominated media oligarchy has been so succesful at keeping Mercian Nationlism off the agenda, that most people have never even heard of the Mecian Nationlists!!!
• The London army has many bases occupying Mercia, but the population is so subdued that rebellions almost never occur. What then is this ARMY OF OCCUPASHON doing on our SOIL?

We call out to all Mercians, whether you be from Birmingham or Lincoln, from Liverpool or Cambridge, from Nottingham or Gloucester, to rise up and overthrow the imperialistical scum from Wessex-Kent and their collaborators in Northumbria!!! May the Greater London Empire of England and all those who support it die!

devolution.

I have been in a similar situation for 20 plus years.  I did a small 
amount of campaigning on the issue, but the issue of boundaries and 
devolution is quite live at the moment.

I am somewhat dismayed at the apparent borders of your nation.
You would have Mercia include what is present day Lincolnshire,
when infact Lincolnshire is part of the nation of East Anglia
and a land of Viking settlers, unlike your Anglo-Saxon nation.
 
The truth of the matter is that the people of Lincolnshire are quite
different from your nation, in fact our language and culture are very
different from those of the interior lands you call Mercia. We have a
proud agricultural tradition and share close links with the other East
Anglian regions, those that the Wessex conspirators call Bedfordshire,
Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
 
East Anglia would be happy to recognise your claim to freedom from the
Southern Imperialists, but we reject your claim to the lands east of the
Trent, that is land sovereign of the people of East Anglia and the Anglians
will fight for it should you dispute that. We have been forced to tolerate
rule by Wessex, by the houses of York and Lancaster. Even when Henry of
Bolinbrook became King of England, East Anglia still did not see freedom,
nor under the rule of our son Olivier Cromwell did the Low lands of the east
become free. But should we be forced to accept rule by Mercia, the people of
East Anglia would be silent no longer...

As a proud West Saxon of the Hwicce, or as you may say Hwinca, taught well,
as is our custom, may I be granted to correct some of your facts and verse?
If others know better then let them come forward.

When  your lord Cyning Burghred was driven from his own lands by the
accursed Danes and his realm left to plunder and ruin the kindred people of
Ængla Land  turned to our realm, alone, for their safety. It were the noble
Cynings of the Gewisse who saved all of us from death or bondage.  First
Æthelbald, then Æthelberht and Æthelræd I who died bravely to save all
Ængelcynnes. And it was the noble lord Cyning Ælfred who did smote their
ruin.

Without lords of your own and at the call of the Mercian folk those parts of
your lands not subject to the Danes were liberated by Ælfred who most
graciously returned to them to the scion of your own house Æthelræd
Icelingus who in gratitude paid homage to our noble Cyning Ælfred as his
Brytenwalda. And in that treaty, which you did neglect to mention, did
Æthelræd of Miercna (Mercia) marry Ælfred’¡Çs eldest child, the Lady
Æthelflæd, and they ruled Miercna in his stead. There he ruled without
molestation, but sadly for you, no heirs, until 911AD. And on the day he
died your lands were inherited by the Sons of the Gewisse of the West Saxon
Folk. That is how your land of Miercna came to be united with the Gewisse
and all Ængla Land. It was not "conquered", it was given.

You do not understand your own folk either. You are of the Ængeln folk.
Bordered at the south by the East, South and West (or as we say Gewisse)
Séax. And not forgetting those Jutish scions of Hengist and Oisc in Kent.
Your own Ængelcynnes lie to the north and to the east. Feel free to call
yourselves "Cumrian"...if so, why did your cyning Offa build his dyke to keep
those Wealhas folk out!

But it were the Séax who were stronger and saved your Ængel lands when your
own rulers failed you.

I agree with you about the lack of the Ænglo-Séax letters Thorn and Eth from
modern keyboards.

I believe that culturally Gloucestershire is the shire of Hwicce,
indivisible from Somersæt, and forged with Wessex. As are the shires of
Berkshire, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Wight and the Dorsæt folk.  Yours are all
north of that, and where the rest of your extremities lie are for debate,
but not with us, but by your other neighbours who may not agree with you on
all of them.

I believe as a West Saxon that both our kingdoms should once again be free
from the yoke of this "UK". The folk of our two nations, Ængeln and Séax
should work to divide the "union" forged in its present form, not by the
Laws of Ælfred but by the force of arms wrought on us all by the Normans,
the Plantagenet and the Anjou.

Finally, you do make some terrible spelling mistakes, even in the modern
English tongue. My writings are not perfect, and there are many who know a
lot more than I, but you should tidy up a bit!
